Can you buy cider to make into wine?
Yes you can. We do sell raw cider for making wine and hard cider. But because we pre-label all of our containers, you will need to supply you own food-safe container. This is an accepted practice for 'Direct-to-Customer' sales. We cannot sell 'raw' cider in a container that states the contents have been pasteurized (that's the law).
Do we sell grapes or other fruits/berries?
At this time, we do not sell grapes. Apples,
ciders & honey are all we sell at Sunnyside Orchards. If you want wine
grapes or just want to learn more about wine-making... check out Coyote Ridge
Vineyards. If you are interested in fresh strawberries,
raspberries or black currants. Goto
Glacial Acres.
What is the difference between
apple
juice and apple cider?
-
Apple cider and apple juice are both 100% liquid from an apple.
-
In the United States and Canada... "cider" is what you get when you blend together the juice of two or more varieties of fresh apples. American cider is unprocessed; appears dark, brown, and cloudy; and usually contains the pulp of the apple. If you then take this American cider and process it to clarify the juice, you get "apple juice". American cider does not contain alcohol.
-
In England and Australia... "cider" is what you get when you take the liquid from freshly pressed apples and ferment it to make wine which contains alcohol. Americans call this "hard cider".
